The compensation for damages from the oil spill incident in the country's west coast county of Taean is estimated to reach up to W424 billion (US$1=W965).
That's according to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund's report on last December's major oil spill.
Taking a closer look at the organization's report, some $115 million have been allocated for containing the oil spill, nearly $180 million for the fisheries industry and up to $150 million for the tourism business.
The report on the compensation will be officially announced at the organization's general meeting this Tuesday in Monaco. However, residents in Taean say they need more to get back on their feet.
