Military Service Age Limit May be Extended to 40
Korea's age limit for mandatory military service could be extended from the current 35 to 40.

The Military Manpower Administration says it is trying to extend the current age cut-off by five years to encourage Korean men residing abroad to return and fulfill their military duties.

Under the current law, men 25 years old and above who have not fulfilled their duty must receive a permit and go through a complex screening process at the airport before leaving the country.

The administration says it's also pushing to eliminate the last step by allowing men to go through the screening online.
