Korean shares gained Thursday as individual investors scooped up shares on gains in U.S. markets.
However, analysts say foreign and institutional investors were under selling pressure given the lingering sentiment over weaknesses in the U.S. economy.
The benchmark KOSPI rose 20 points to finish the session at 1,697, while the junior KOSDAQ added seven points.
On the foreign currency counter the Korean currency traded at W950 against the greenback.
