Seoul National University will bring in 100 foreign professors including 20 leading academics like Nobel laureates this year. SNU signed a contract with the 1995 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry Paul Crutzen as a professor. Crutzen now works with Germany¡¯s Max Planck Institute. SNU President Lee Jang-moo said departments that find and hire good foreign professors early will be given more benefits to employ more foreign professors.
SNU currently employs 60 foreign faculty. To help new foreign professors settle here, the school will establish a ¡°global institute¡± that will provide administrative support.
