The National Assembly continued its parliamentary confirmation hearing of Cabinet nominees for the incoming government Thursday on two more candidates amid heightened concerns over President Lee Myung-bak's pick of designates.
Justice Minister-designate Kim Kyung-han and Construction and Transportation Minister-nominee Chung Jong-hwan had their ethical standards and ability thoroughly reviewed to see if they can carry out state affairs.
However, both candidates were pummeled by opposition lawmakers over alleged ethical shortcomings surrounding Chung's property speculation charges and Kim's accumulation of wealth that amounts to some W5.9 billion (US$1=W937).
