President Lee Myung-bak has placed economic revival at the top of his to-do list, and this was underscored once again on Wednesday in his first meeting with his secretarial staff.
Lee noted the public's high hopes for a more vigorous economy, and ordered his aides to swiftly enact measures to curb rising consumer prices.
But the president has yet to appoint his Cabinet members as some of his would-be ministers and his prime minister-nominee face fierce opposition from liberal camps.
To this, Lee asked for stability in the National Assembly and requested his aides to make efforts to overcome the hurdles and repay the public by showing them what he called a "working government."
