Overseas Credit Card Usage Reaches $6.3 Bil. in 2007
Overseas credit card spending by Koreans hit a record high last year. The Bank of Korea says credit card spending by Koreans traveling abroad jumped 33 percent on-year to reach US$6.4 billion in 2007.

The annual amount has reportedly been trending upward by over 30 percent for three straight years.

The central bank links the phenomenon to the strengthening won, the surge in the number of Korean tourists abroad, and improvements in the use of plastic in general.

Last year, the average Korean was found to have charged close to $720 on his or her credit card overseas.
