Tombs, Fossils Submitted for UNESCO Review
Korea hopes to get royal tombs from the Chosun Dynasty and dinosaur fossils on the south coast designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Cultural Heritage Administration said it submitted two separate applications to the UN cultural body for review.

They are 40 ancient royal tombs from the 15th century, and a portion of the country's southern coast which is home to fossilized dinosaur eggs and footprints from the Cretaceous period dating back as far as 140 million years.

Korea is already home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites including Changdeok Palace, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Gyeongju historical areas.
