Korean Overseas Spending Shifting to Asia
Findings by one domestic credit-card company show Koreans' overseas spending is shifting from North America and Europe to Asia.

BC Card reports that in 2007 its users charged the most abroad in the Philippines, nearly W52 billion won (US$1=W944). That is almost twice as much as the year before.

Spending was up 45 percent in Singapore and China, where charge levels ranked second and third, just behind the Philippines. In fact the top five countries were all in Asia.

The card company speculates that younger travelers headed to Asian countries were responsible for the spending trend.
