The world is calling for new leadership. New leaders are emerging in the U.S., Europe, Asia and South Korea. The age of disunity and ideologies is coming to an end, and a new age of a leadership of unity and pragmatism is dawning. On its 88th anniversary, the Chosun Ilbo is hosting the second Asian Leadership Conference under the theme "Leadership and Change", a global conference in which we will try to pin down changing trends along with the world's top leaders.

Among those invited are Singapore¡¯s Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, former prime minister of Australia Paul Keating, former New Zealand premier Jenny Shipley, former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger, former chief secretary of administration of Hong Kong Anson Chan, and president of the Democratic Party of Japan Ichiro Ozawa.


The Chosun Ilbo has also invited world business leaders to find solutions to an environment that is changing at the speed of light. They include Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault and Nissan; Stephen Green, HSBC Group CEO; Ferdinando Beccalli-Falco, president and CEO of GE International; Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay International; NTT DoCoMo CEO Masao Nakamura; Chen Hong, president of Shanghai Automotive Industry; and Xie Qihua, former chairwoman and president of Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation.

Special lecturers or participants include M.S. Ananth, director of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, known as an "MIT" of India; John Naisbitt of Nanjing University in China and the author of "Megatrends"; "Investment Biker" Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings; and Prof. Eisuke Sakakibara of Waseda University in Japan, known as "Mr. Yen."

Korean economic and financial leaders and leading academics will also participate in the conference, including Sagong Il, CEO of the institute for Global Economics; Cho Suk-rai, chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries; Park Hyeon-joo, chairman of Mirae Asset Group; Nam Yong, vice chairman and CEO of LG Electronics; Kim Shin-bae, president of SK Telecom; and Prof. Cho Dong-sung, dean of the Business Management Graduate School, Seoul National University.
