Contact Lost with Arirang Satellite
|
|
Contact with Korea's Arirang-1 satellite has been cut off since December 30th. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute says the country's first homegrown artificial satellite has the potential to become lost in space. The institute and the Ministry of Science and Technology have been holding emergency meetings to come up with a solution to get in touch with the satellite again. Since its launch in December 1999, the multi-purpose satellite, has been circling the earth 14 times a day for its observation duties. Experts attribute circling out of its orbit track as the most likely reason for the lost contact.
