There are 297 South Korean students studying in undergraduate and graduate programs at Harvard University this year, making them the third largest group of foreign students at the prestigious U.S. university.
According to statistics from Nov. 1 released by Harvard on Saturday, a total of 3,913 students from 141 countries are studying in the 2007-2008 academic year there.
South Korea follows Canada (489) and China (400). Other nations with sizable Harvard populations include India (216), Britain (201), Germany (158), Japan (127) and Taiwan (117).
South Korea ranked fifth with 97 students at Harvard in academic year 1991-1992, but second (174 students) in academic year 1997-1998. Since academic year 1999-2000, the country has continued to rank third.
Meanwhile, two North Korean students studied at Harvard in academic year 2001-2002 and one in 2002-2003.
