Asset redistribution by Korea's largest conglomerate is raising eyebrows of many industry watchers in the country.

British Petroleum recently sold its 47-percent stake in Samsung Petrochemical Company back to the Samsung Group. Experts are viewing this as another sign that the group's third generation is taking the reigns at Samsung.

Almost half the shares from the Samsung Petrochemical sale are now in the hands of Lee Boo-jin, the eldest daughter of Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee. Lee Boo-jin is now the greatest shareholder of the oil firm, holding 33 percent.

The chairman's only son Lee Jae-yong is expected to soon take over the leading role of the Samsung group. The current chairman represents the second generation following the conglomerate's founding in 1938 by his father Lee Byung-chul.
