Korean Air has begun a regular month-long breast cancer prevention campaign on its domestic and international flights.
Female flight attendants held a "Pink Ribbon Campaign" at Incheon International Airport on Monday, passing out pink ribbon lapel pins to passengers and helping to pin them on.
Korean Air has joined forces to highlight the importance of preventing breast cancer, said Cho Hyun-ah, Korean Air's executive of in-flight service. Korean Air has been holding the campaign in partnership with international cosmetic brand Estee Lauder every October since 2003.
During the campaign, female flight attendants wear the lapel pins and distribute breast cancer self-check cards to female passengers on the plane and at the check-in counters of airports in Incheon, Gimpo and Gimhae.
For this year's campaign the airline prepared 6,000 lapel pins and 50,000 breast cancer self-check cards, Korean Air said.
Korean Air will also join in a pink lighting ceremony organized by the city of Seoul, the Korean Cancer Society and the Chosun Ilbo at Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul city hall.
The color pink symbolizes the fight against breast cancer. Alongside the campaign, Korean Air flight attendants are raising funds through the month for the Korean Cancer Society to help victims of breast cancer.
