The US$250 million plant, scheduled for completion in June 2009, will produce 400,000 tons of high-quality, non-corroding steel plate for automobiles per year.
POSCO in March wrapped up construction on its POSCO Mexico Processing Center (PDS-MPC) with an annual capacity of 170,000 tons of steel plate for automobiles.
The center, in the Mexican state of Puebla, imports finished steel plate from Korea and supplies them to carmakers such as DaimlerChrysler and auto parts makers.
