North Korea has suspended its annual Arirang mass games, according to reports from the country's state-run Korean Central News Agency.
Arirang is a mass choreographed extravaganza held to promote the Pyongyang's political regime.
"It has now become hard to continue the performance as working people in different parts of the country are all out to recover from the flood damage these days," the agency reported.
This is the second consecutive year that the mass showcase has been interrupted. The agency said the games would resume after the flood damage was repaired but did not specify when.
On Aug. 21 the agency reported that Arirang would continue as scheduled. Arirang kicked off on Aug. 1 with as many as 100,000 participants and was initially scheduled to last until mid-October.
