Korea's swimming sensation Park Tae-hwan is the world's number one competitor in the 400-meter freestyle according to rankings released Sunday by an online swimming news Web site.

Swimnews.com says the 18-year-old Park holds the fastest time in the category this year with three minutes and 44.3 seconds.

The record was set in March when Park won a gold in the men's 400-meter freestyle in the World Swimming Championships held in Melbourne, Australia.

Park recently won another gold in the same category at the 2007 International Swim Meet held in Japan.
