Afghan Gov't Forms Special Committee to Solve Hostages Crisis
While the Taliban is reportedly frustrated over what it calls lackluster efforts by Korea to resolve the hostage standoff, the Afghan government is said to be forming a special committee.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai's spokesman indirectly told Korea's Yonhap News Agency on Wednesday that the committee's purpose is to find a diplomatic solution by cooperating with countries like Pakistan that have influence on the Taliban.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that the Afghan government would use force to free the hostages if talks between the Korean delegation and the Taliban fail.

The Taliban's demand is the release of its jailed members in return for the 19 Korean hostages.
