Taliban Continue Hostage Negotiations
The Taliban are continuing talks with Korea for the release of 19 remaining hostages. Qarabagh District Taliban commander Abdullah Jan, who led their abduction, said Monday, ¡°Even though talks with the Korean government are at a stalemate, we will continue to negotiate even if there is only a 10 percent possibility.¡± The commander told Chosun Ilbo¡¯s correspondent Rahimullah Yusufzai, ¡°The Korean government has asked for more time as they are doing their best to pressure the Afghan government to meet our demand of the release of Taliban prisoners¡± in exchange for the hostages. ¡°We agreed to give them more time.¡±
