The top 100 richest people in China are twice as wealthy and five years younger than their Korean counterparts, a study found Sunday. The LG Economic Research Institute in a report on the Chinese economy Sunday said the top 100 richest Chinese own an average of W831.9 billion (US$1=W931) in assets, twice as much as the 100 wealthiest Koreans, who own W376.4 billion. The richest Chinese are on average 48.2 years old, five years younger than the richest Koreans, whose average age is 53.3.
The report predicted that the gap between the richest Chinese and their Korean counterparts will grow. The think tank said the wealth of the rich in both countries is closely linked to movements in the stock market, making it likely that the rich Chinese will get richer since the real economy in China continues its astonishing growth. What¡¯s more, the outlook for the Chinese real estate market is bright, in stark contrast to the Korean market.
