Korean Diplomat Dies From Injection
The Korean Embassy in China will hold a funeral ceremony for a senior official there on Tuesday. Chinese public health authorities unofficially confirmed that Whang Joung-il died from an injection of Rocephin, an antibiotic, which can cause fatal shock and blood clotting when used with medicines containing calcium. The embassy has not officially been informed of the autopsy results.

The 52-year-old minister for political affairs at the embassy stopped breathing on July 29 after an intravenous injection at a Beijing clinic to treat a stomachache. Chinese public health authorities promised the Korean embassy they will take firm action against the Vista Clinic, which denies medical error and claims the late diplomat died of a heart attack.
