SNU Keeps High Rank Among World Universities

Seoul National University has maintained its place in the middle-high range of the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities. The annual list is compiled by China's Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

SNU scored 61.4 points for research output in Science Citation Index and 13.5 points for output in Nature and Science. Overall it ranked 160th, the top among Korean universities.

However, SNU scored zero when it came to alumni and staff who have won the Nobel Prize or Fields Medals, since no former SNU students or professors have been awarded them.

Yonsei University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology ranked within the top 203 to 304 universities, followed by Korea University, Pohang University of Science and Technology and Sungkyunkwan University which ranked among the top 305 to 401.

Hanyang University and Pusan National University ranked among the top 402 to 508.

According to the survey, the top five universities in the world are Harvard University (U.S.), Stanford University (U.S.), University of California, Berkeley (U.S.), University of Cambridge (UK) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (U.S.).
