Another Prof. Revealed as Fraud
Yet another professor's educational background has been revealed as a sham. Kim Ock-rang, the head of Dongsoong Art Center and a professor at Dankook University, was found to have concocted bogus high school and college records.

Kim, 62, has been a professor in the art management department of Dankook's Graduate School of Industry and Business Management since 2004.

In her books she claimed to have studied English Literature at Ewha Womans University in Seoul and to have graduated from Pacific Western University in the U.S.

Yet Ewha says it has no record of her enrolling at the university, and Pacific Western is not an accredited school.

Certificates of graduation from Kyunggi Girls' Middle and High Schools that Kim submitted to Dankook at the time of her appointment were also found to be fake.

Kim founded the Ockrang Cultural Foundation in 1991 and has served as its director since. She is also an important figure in Korea's theater community, called the "bear of Daehakno" for her considerable influence in the Daehakno theater town.

In March 2004 Kim earned a doctoral degree in performing arts from Sungkyunkwan University, the first in the country to earn such a degree.

Kim resigned from her post at Dankook on July 17, citing health reasons. The Chosun Ilbo tried to contact Kim for comment but she was unreachable.
