Dongguk University Assistant Professor Shin Jeong-ah, who was said to have been hiding in Korea, was seen in disguise at New York's JFK Airport on Monday.
Prof. Shin arrived at the airport on Korean Air flight KE 081 at 12:45 a.m, wearing jeans, a gray T-shirt and a white cap.
It was difficult to recognize her as she was wearing black-rimmed glasses and had cut her hair short. She was carrying only a large suitcase and a small handbag.

Reporters tried to stop Prof. Shin to question her as was exiting the airport. She refused to say why she was in New York or when she would return to Korea.
As she was leaving, she finally said, "I don't have anything to say to the press, which has concluded that I'm a high school graduate because of plagiarism."
She left the airport alone in a taxi.
It is not clear where she was going next. Her family said Prof. Shin went to the U.S. to collect information to prove that she has a doctoral degree from Yale.
The Korean Consulate in New York said it is impossible for the consulate to find out where she is since she is not a criminal.
