Foreign Direct Investment to Korea Drops 30%
Foreign direct investment to Korea in the first half of the year saw a significant drop compared to the same period a year ago.

According to data by the Commerce, Industry and Energy Ministry on Wednesday, FDI into the country in the first six months of the year amounted to US$3.3 billion. That's nearly 32% less than during the same period last year.

A lack of big investments, mainly mergers and acquisitions was cited as a reason behind the drop.

The ministry said it expects difficulty attracting foreign investment for the time being given the strengthening won. But the country did see a slight rise in Greenfield investments.
