The top U.S. nuclear envoy is visiting North Korea ahead of the expected resumption of international negotiations on Pyongyang's nuclear program.

China's official Xinhua news agency says Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill arrived in the North Korean capital Thursday from Tokyo.

On Wednesday in Japan, Hill said he expects the six-nation talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program to resume in early July.

On Saturday, North Korea said it would re-admit inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency as required under a nuclear disarmament deal reached in February. The invitation followed confirmation that about $25 million in North Korean funds frozen in a Macau bank was being transfered back to Pyongyang.

North Korea had promised to complete the shutdown by mid-April, but refused to do so until it received access to its money.

Hill said Tuesday that the disputed funds had been deposited in North Korean bank accounts in Russia.
