The Prosecutor-General¢¥s Office is seeking a six-year jail sentence for Hyundai Motor chairman Chung Mong-koo on appeal. At first instance, the Hyundai Motor chief was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of embezzling W90 billion (US$1=W938) from the corporate funds. Prosecutors said the three-year sentence is too light, considering that Chung squirreled away nearly W100 billion in slush funds and damaged the image of his company. Prosecutors also sought a four-year jail sentence for group vice chairman Kim Dong-jin.
