Electronic products from mobile phones to LCD TVs available in the market can change color to match your clothes and interior design. The products are particularly popular among young people. The idea fits in with a wider trend for customized merchandise to stem the tide of uniformity.

One such product is Samsung Electronics¡¯ Color Jacket Phone offering seven exterior colors. With three standard color covers it costs roughly W500,000 (US$1=W928), but customers can add more color covers for W10,000.
A Technomart staffer says some 700 of the phones are sold at 100 mobile phone stores in a week. ¡°Color covers meet demand from consumers who get fed up with mobile phone after using it for long time,¡± an industry insider says. ¡°They¡¯re are also helpful when it gets scratched.¡±
The Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop allows users to change exterior covers in colors including charcoal black, deep gray, Mediterranean blue and cherry wood at W20,000 per cover. Demand for color covers is great since laptops get scratched easily. The model is one of the most popular Dell computers.
USB memory makers also offer products with color covers. Zyrus Swingcap, a USB memory by Shinmyung Digital, comes with seven color covers -- red, blue, violet, green, pink, black and white.

Home appliances that are likely to be used for more than 10 years also come with color covers. Sony¡¯s LCD TV Bravia (KDL-40X2000) allows users to change the frame of the LCD screen, though it costs about W200,000 to change the frame. The standard frame is silver but additional colors are black, blue, brown, red and white.
Even for refrigerators, the cover can be changed for W200,000 to W500,000. Customer service centers of home appliance makers such as Samsung or LG handle inquiries of changing exterior of refrigerators.
¡°Digital products are considered as a fashion item,¡± says Park Sang-hoo, a team leader with Technomart. ¡°That¡¯s why many companies offer products whose exterior color can be changed.¡±
