A moderator of a community for unmarried women, novelist and lecturer on natural cosmetics, Choi Jae-kyung has now added another feather to her bow: a book advising older women how to find their Mr. Right. Choi finally walked down the aisle three years ago. ¡°People often say that keeping a dog increases the chances of a woman ending up as an old maid,¡± she says. ¡°But I say, if you have a dog, you can fend off loneliness and emptiness, and that will help you develop a better eye for a guy.¡± Here, she shares her tips for sifting the wheat from the chaff with Chosun Ilbo readers.
¡ß Nice and sincere, but shy and timid
These men are often praised for their exemplary lifestyle. Though women may find it difficult to feel any strong attraction for a man without much ambition, they are a good choice for marriage. For one thing, they have no great following among women in their 20s, while women in their 30s who have failed in more stimulating and dramatic relationships recognize their value. And of course, such men rarely do anything wrong. Remember not to expect any hot passion, and don¡¯t ask, ¡°Why are you so timid?¡± Instead, appreciate their sincerity.
¡ß Charismatic machos
This type of men are called machos. They are blunt and think men are superior to women. But their virtue is trustworthiness. They work hard for their family. Actually, they are not strong inside as much as they look outside. By showing respects and pleasing them, you can tame them. But they are not recommendable for women who have unique individuality and take pride in their work.
¡ß Impatient narcissists
Such men are often frustrated when women don¡¯t fall in love with them at first sight. Most of them are mama¡¯s boys or have a high educational background. They want women to mob them. Surprisingly many single men in their mid-30s or over fall into this category. They like active and friendly girls or women of the same age or older. These guys are calculating and ruthless like Scrooge in ¡°A Christmas Carol.¡± They don¡¯t express their feelings but are often sulky and disgruntled. Many women fall in love with them because they look so waterproof and systematic. If you were to end up one of them, remember that you will have to actively help your man¡¯s success and should be a financial expert as well in case you want to have a say in domestic monetary affairs. Otherwise, he won¡¯t let you have any economic power in the family.
