U.S. Recognizes Korea's Alliance in Terror War
The U.S. House committee on foreign affairs unanimously passed a resolution Wednesday expressing appreciation for Korea for its deployment of forces to Iraq and its cooperation in the global war on terrorism. The House will put the resolution to a vote in the first half of the year.

Eight representatives including New York Republican Rep. Peter King submitted the resolution in late March in recognition of Korea's dispatch of 2,300 forces to Iraq and 200 troops to Afghanistan. Korea's force in Iraq is the third largest following the U.S. and Britain. The resolution also expresses gratitude for Korea's promise of US$260 million to support nation building in Iraq.

House Resolution 295 also notes Seoul-Washington efforts on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula within the framework of the six-nation nuclear talks, and for the promotion of peace and democracy at regional and global levels.
