"My Choice Slim 53.5 - Blood Sugar Level" and "Ideal MRP". They may sound like some sort of code, but actually they're names of health food products. As the healthy eating trend continues to grow, companies are creating products with names like these to reflect their healthy qualities.

Paris Baguette on Monday debuted My Choice Slim 53.5, which is bread with a reduced glycemic index, or GI. Glycemic index ranks carbohydrates based on their effect on blood glucose levels. If a food product has a low GI, it increases your blood sugar level gradually and prompts the secretion of less insulin, making you want to eat less. Paris Baguette's new product has a GI of 53.5, while most other breads have a GI in the range of 70 to 90. "We put the specific figure in the product name in order to alert those customers who are looking for healthy foods," Paris Baguette said.

Meanwhile, SangA Pharmaceutical released their Ideal MRP (Meal Replacement Product), which is a powdered food substitute that contains nutrients like fiber, minerals and vitamins. "This product will help people such as athletes to lose weight and boost their workout by supplying various nutrients," SangA Pharmaceutical said.

The trend for healthy foods can also be seen in the packaged food and beverage industry. Korea Yakult has sold some 170,000 units of its Daily Vegetable juice so far this year, up from 120,000 last year. Korea Yakult attributed the product's success to the fact that it's made from vegetables and doesn't contain artificial colorings or sugars.
