N. Korea, Japan to Hold Talks in Vietnam
North Korea and Japan are reportedly set to meet for talks on normalizing bilateral ties next week. According to Japan's Kyodo news agency, the two sides have agreed to meet in Hanoi, Vietnam on March 7 and 8.

It will be the first bilateral talks between Tokyo and Pyongyang in more than a year. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki said in a news briefing that Tokyo will pursue progress in the nuclear talks, but its aid to Pyongyang will be tied to progress in the abduction issue.

The abduction of Japanese nationals by North Korean agents in the 1970s and 80s is a long-standing issue between the two countries. North Korea has admitted to kidnapping 13 Japanese citizens and has allowed five to return to Japan.
