Grand National Party presidential hopeful Park Geun-hye on Sunday left for the U.S., where she will deliver a lecture at Harvard University on Tuesday. From Wednesday to Friday, Park will give a talk at the National Press Club in Washington and meet with officials of the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation. She is also scheduled to meet with U.S. government and Congress officials before flying to Los Angeles to meet with Korean-American supporters.
Park hopes to meet with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the first woman speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. However, meetings with the two senior Democrats have not been finalized. A Park aide said the meetings with Pelosi and Clinton will be arranged once Park arrives in the U.S. The former GNP chairwoman plans to stress the importance of female leadership in her meetings with U.S. women politicians. She returns home on Feb. 19.
