Experts Discuss Turning DMZ into Ecotourism District
Experts on the environment, culture and tourism in Korea gathered to discuss turning the country's Demilitarized Zone into a center of ecotourism. The National Assembly's Culture and Tourism Committee held a forum to draw up plans to make the DMZ a leading natural attraction.

The 250-kilometer-long, 4-kilometer wide stretch of land dividing South and North Korea has been known for its tourism potential as it is home to hundreds of species of plants and animals, including some that are endangered.

The participants from both government and the academia briefed each other on the state of the DMZ's environment and also brainstormed on plans and policies that would let people experience the area's natural treasures.
