Samsung Develops World's First 1-GB Mobile DRAM
Samsung Electronics says it has developed the world's first 1 GB mobile DRAM chip using 80-nanometer process technology.

The new chip can be used for advanced mobile phone handsets as well as digital cameras, portable media players and games. Samsung says the chip is also more cost-effective than other high-density chips as it consumes 30 percent less power than other memory chips.

The company plans to mass-produce the new chip from the second quarter of next year.
