Kim Yu-na, who has joined the ranks of world-class skaters after winning the ISU Grand Prix Figure Skating Final in St. Petersburg, Russia on Sunday, will appear in image ads for Kookmin Bank. The six-month contract is worth W200 million. ¡°Kim Yu-na will be the second model in our series that highlights not just being no. 1 in Korea but doing our best to be no. 1 in the world,¡± Kookmin said in a press release.
Kookmin Bank has been running a TV spot featuring world-class Korean breakdance crew Gambler in slow motion, with the slogan, ¡°I¡¯m not just dancing. I will show you that Korea can top the world.¡±
Judging that Kim fits the bank¡¯s concept well, it pushed the contract ahead of the Grand Prix. The bank has also signed a one-year contract with Giants slugger Lee Seung-yeop. Lee will appear as the third model in the series after Kim. The bank will schedule the 16-year-old figure skater¡¯s shoot around her schedule, including treatment for her waist injury, after Kim returns home on Tuesday afternoon.
