Navy Rescues Drifting N Korean Soldiers
Two North Korean soldiers drifting about on a small raft in the waters off Sokcho in Gangwon Province were rescued by the South Korean navy on Saturday. ¡°At around 11 p.m. on Saturday the two North Korea soldiers were spotted by a P3C sub-spotter and rescued by our forces after drifting on a 3t wooden vessel with no means of propulsion.¡± When the two were discovered, they were wearing dark green that looked to be a military uniform and one of the men was suffering from hypothermia to the point that he had lost consciousness.

Immediately after being found, the soldiers were transported to a military hospital in Gangneung for preliminary treatment and then relocated to another military hospital on Sunday morning. Whether the two had planned to defect, or had just become stranded on the raft has still not been made known. When the soldiers have recovered their health concerned agencies, including the police and the military will begin joint interrogations to find out the particulars behind the two men¡¯s voyage.
