Starting next year, subway commuters will have a new diversion: the Web. Seoul Metro says it will install the wireless Internet technology WiBro in its stations and subway cars, and launch the service in January.
The WiBro service commercialized in and around Seoul in June will allow those with WiBro-enabled PDAs and laptops to download pictures, music and video files while on the go.
Seoul Metro also plans to spend W327 billion (US$349 million) to replace hundreds of aging subway cars by 2009.
