U.S. Treasury ¡®Has New Evidence Against Macau Bank¡¯
The U.S. Treasury Department appears to have new evidence and is making headway in its investigation of the Macao-based Banco Delta Asia (BDA) which allegedly laundered North Korea¡¯s ill-gotten gains. A government official told reporters after Seoul¡¯s top nuclear negotiator Chun Yung-woo met U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Robert Kimmitt here on Wednesday that Washington will directly talk with Pyongyang about the issue of financial sanctions once six-party nuclear talks resume. He made it clear that a U.S.-North Korea working group on the financial sanctions will be independent of the six way talks, saying that the multilateral nuclear disarmament talks will be held in Beijing but the sanctions talks anywhere the two sides choose.
