A shipload of U.S. beef enters the country on Monday for the first time since December 2003 when mad cow disease prompted authorities to ban imports. The Agriculture and Forestry Ministry said a Korean firm will receive nine tons of U.S. beef that include sirloin and boneless ribs through Incheon International Airport. The National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service plans to check all 707 boxes for any harmful substances. Given the strict inspection and regulation, the imported U.S. beef will not reach consumers until around Nov. 15.
