Microsoft said Thursday it will offer a Windows Vista express upgrade allowing consumers who buy new PCs now to upgrade to the new Windows operating system when it becomes available at last. The deal is good until March 15 next year on a selection of machines equipped with Windows XP produced by Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, TriGem Computer, Jooyontech Computer, Daewoo Lucoms and Hewlett-Packard.

During the period, consumers who buy computers with the Windows Vista Capable logo will be able to upgrade to the new OS at low price early next year. The corporate version of Vista will be introduced at the end of this year and the personal version early next year, but Microsoft is hoping that the program will breathe life into what looked like a doomed holiday season for computers owing to the delayed release. Terms and conditions can be found at microsoft.com/korea/windowsvista.
