The National Assembly on Friday passed fourteen bills into law including one concerning sexual violence. The revised sexual violence law says those who use sexual violence against children under 13 that is tantamount to rape and those who commit sexual offenses against the physically challenged in their care will be subject to harsh punishments.

Victims can have someone they trust with them when they are being investigated, and investigations will be conducted by officers specializing in sex crimes. The National Assembly also passed bills to strengthen disciplinary measures against judges and prosecutors.
