Tilelli and Schwartz are coming at the invitation of Deputy Commander of the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command Lee Hee-won, a CFC official said Monday. The visit comes amid heated controversy over Seoul’s plan to take over wartime operational control of its troops. After paying a visit to the CFC on Thursday, the two will meet with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Lee Sang-hee and visit the Fifth Army Corps
After visiting the U.S. Seventh Air Force on Friday, the two will attend a dinner hosted by Defense Minister Yoon. Tilelli led the USFK from 1996 until December 1999, and then passed the baton on to Schwartz who was commander until May 2002.
