Survey Finds Koreans Discontent at Work

New research on work atmosphere at firms in 16 countries shows Korean workers are among the most unhappy. A poll by a U.S.-based human resources consulting firm took into account responses from 86,000 workers worldwide including more than 1,000 Koreans. Close to half of the Korean respondents spoke of hopes to find a new job, indicating the high level of discontent among workers here.

Many Koreans complained of being evaluated unfairly for their performance at work and having their private lives disrupted by a heavy workload. Koreans pointed to the guarantee of time balance between work and private life as a top priority when considering a new job. Korea was the only country that did not place a great emphasis on salary.
