To celebrate Oct. 9 marking the invention of the Korean alphabet or hangeul, the Korea Mining and Security Printing Corporation will produce a set of commemorative coins. Made of 99.9 percent silver, the coins have a square hole in the middle with the 28 original letters of the Korean alphabet printed around it.
People can reserve a set at the National Agriculture Cooperative Federation and Woori Bank branches as well as their websites for one week starting Monday. The price is W27,000 (US$1=W956).
