Hot Gadgets to Help you Stay Cool This Summer
The New York-based industrial design star Karim Rashid was recently in Korea. He is known for saying design is no longer about solutions to problems but making things look cool. The Chosun Ilbo lists some unique products whose fun concepts and designs can help you cool down the last hot summer days.

The summer's biggest hit is a small and handily designed USB fan that needs no external power when connected to a desktop of laptop. The product is seeing whirlwind sales of 1,110 units a day at the online trading site Auction. There is also a lamp/fan that goes for W4,900 (US$1=W956) and a fragrant fan that goes for W4,000.

Idea Shop's (www.1300k.com) super-small massager (W3,500) has drawn the admiration of workers struggling through the day and students who want to loosen up during long hours of test preparation. Gadget 8 (www.gadget8.com) is offering a Cool Mouse, a.k.a. Fan Mouse, that circulates a cool breeze and has made it onto the list of bestsellers. The Drinking Chiller that can be purchased for W97,000 at Fun N Life (www.funnlife.com) keeps beverages at a refreshing 7.2 degrees Celsius, and is the summer equivalent of the "coffee warmer" that was a big hit last winter.

The "convergence" trend in digital products -- all-in-one cell phones, digital cameras and portable music players -- is also a feature of the cute gadget. Their fun is in the convergence of features you would not expect to see combined. Thus 1300K's Pink Combo X (W28,000) is a digital clock, radio, fan, flashlight, vibrating massager and -- wait for it -- mini vacuum cleaner. Online shoppers, believe it or not, are falling over each other to snap up the item.
