Samsung Unveils World's Largest Full-HD Panel
Samsung Electronics has unveiled the world's-largest, 70-inch LCD panel it plans to use in TV sets. The firm said Monday it developed a 70-inch Full-HD LCD that is twice clearer than existing HD LCDs, and plan to release the display as a finished product in the first half of next year.

Among the Full-HD panels that have been released, this is the largest, beating a 65-incher from Sharp Electronics. Samsung plans to show off the display for the first time at the 2006 International Meeting on Information Displays (IMID) opening in Daegu on Aug. 23.

The display refreshes at 120 Hz (120 times per second) it will therefore not suffer the same blurriness in fast sports broadcasts that had been one of the problems with LCD TVs. Normal LCD TVs refresh at 60 Hz.

Vice-President Kim Sang-soo says with the development Samsung Electronics has taken the lead in the scramble for super-size LCD TVs. "This will be the next most revolutionary release following the emergence of the 40-inch LCDs,¡± he added.
