Korean slugger Lee Seung-yeop of the Yomiuri Giants has finally made it to 400. Faced with two outs, and a runner on third at the bottom of the first, Lee converted a 143 km/h straight ball into a two-run homer over the left field wall at the Tokyo Dome on Tuesday.
And with this, his 32nd season homer, Lee got to 400 homeruns on the 349th day of his 29th year. Lee hit 324 homeruns playing in the Korean professional leagues and 76 in Japan. His first pro game was on May 2, 1995 when he took the field for the Samsung Lions in a match against Haitai. Twelve seasons and 1,454 games later, he has hit 400.
Lee has become only the third player in professional baseball to reach 400 before his 30th birthday following Sadaharu Oh and Alex Rodriguez.
But Oh holds the record for getting to 400 the earliest, getting there at the age of 29 years and 151 days, while Rodriguez hit the milestone at 29 years and 316 days.
