Amid Official Denial, Pfister Reportedly Returning to Togo Team
The head coach of Togo's national soccer team may return to his post after quitting several days ago in disgust at the country's soccer association for not agreeing to pay bonuses to the players. Quoting coach Otto Pfister, Reuters and AFP reported that the 68-year-old German will sit at the bench during Togo's opening match against South Korea on Tuesday. But Togo's sports minister denied Pfister will return. The German coach left the team's hotel early Saturday morning with the players repeatedly failing to show up for practice, demanding payment for the World Cup matches. Since then he had refused pleas from the players to return.
