Police at Incheon International Airport on Tuesday arrested a man suspected of making a bomb threat to an airline in order to avoid missing a flight. The man identified as Baek (47) placed a phone call to the airport's information desk saying he placed a bomb on a Taipei-bound plane that would detonate when it takes off.
A bomb squad was immediately dispatched but found no explosives on the plane. The call was traced to the third-floor departure lounge, where Baek was arrested. He reportedly told police he had forgotten his passport and feared he would miss the flight if he went back to get it, so he decided to delay departure. Police said Baek will be charged with violation of aircraft safety laws.
